Improve Email Deliverability by Verifying Your Domain

The key in technology is to always stay ahead of the curve.

Email service providers are moving that curve on domain validation.

It used to be that showing your ownership of the email address was enough. All you had to do was open an email and click a button. However, bad actors have abused this system, and email service providers are responding with a new validation method.

Now, you have to verify your ownership of the email domain from your website.

Not verifying your domain means that your emails may not be delivered to all of its recipients. And, you need that communication to ensure the success of your event and drive revenue growth.

We'll cover the instructions for verifying your domain in GoDaddy. If you use another service provider, follow the links below:

If you use another service provider, visit the links below to learn more about how to do it on your service provider.

Tip: Even if your domain is at GoDaddy or one of the above, that doesn't necessarily mean that they handle your DNS routing.  The below DKIM verification process needs to be completed wherever you are handling the DNS records for your domain name.

We’ll use the table below as the example for these steps:

Type

Name

Value

CNAME (1)

(Name from table in email we send you)

(Value from table in email we send you)

CNAME (2)

(Name from table in email we send you)

(Value from table in email we send you)

CNAME (3)

(Name from table in email we send you)

(Value from table in email we send you)

TXT

@

v=spf1 include:amazonses.com ~all

Follow the 6 steps below to verify your domain:

1. Access your Domain Portfolio. (GoDaddy Domain Portfolio)

GoDaddy Domain Portfolio Sign-in

2. Navigate to your Domains.

3. Select the Domain you're verifying.

select domain name
4. Select "DNS." Then, "DNS Records." And, "Add New Record."

5. In the "Type" dropdown, select either "CNAME" or "TXT", depending on which key you're adding. We'll do CNAME (1) from the table first.

6. Copy the "Name" and "Value" into their respective fields, and set TTL to "1 Hour." Then, select "Add More Records."

DO NOT use the inputs in the values below "Name" and "Value". Use the inputs sent to you via email.

Note: For certain DNS providers, the "Name" field expect the domain name to be present after the key. For example, you would type "skdjwiu3bf983gfiwrugbw._domainkey.mycoolbusiness.com" for the CNAME keys and "mycoolbusiness.com" for the TXT key.

7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 for the rest of the keys — CNAME (2), CNAME (3), and TXT. Click "Save."

DO NOT use the inputs in the values below "Name" and "Value". Use the inputs sent to you via email.
