Workshop 101: Building Tiny Homes
Are you a faith-based/community-based organization or public agency that would like to receive a crash course education on how First Presbyterian Church in Castro Valley successfully built tiny homes? They partnered with Alameda County Supervisor Nate Miley, various public agencies, and charitable builders on building six beautiful tiny homes on their church property. From start to finish, the three-year project journey ended with an emotional home warming/ribbon-cutting ceremony on February 13, 2020. As of today, six formerly (working) homeless women, including one family, have been enjoying their comfortable living arrangements.
Supervisor Nate Miley will be hosting a virtual workshop on Thursday, June 11th, 2020 from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM. The workshop will include an extensive presentation from Pastor Jake Medcalf of First Presbyterian Church and public agency staff members that were involved in the tiny homes permitting process. This virtual workshop will be facilitated via Microsoft Teams, which allows for video and phone in participation without the need to download an application.
