Master Your Camera Controls – 90 minutes (max 5 students/class) – $95

The DPA instructors who lead these workshops are professional photographers.

This workshop provides instruction for anyone who wants to fully understand their camera, with a focus on this topic alone, in a supportive small-group setting. Classes are designed to improve your skills no matter what camera or cellphone you own.

In each Master Your Camera Controls session, a maximum of 5 students sit down with their instructor for 90 minutes, who walks them through the automatic and manual controls of their specific camera or cellphone. (More than five attendees would be too chaotic when everyone brings different cameras with different controls!)

After you register, we’ll collect your exact camera/cellphone make and model in advance so your instructor can highlight any special features. Overriding the automatic settings means you’re not limited by the camera’s default choices and can make deliberate creative decisions—especially when the mechanics of the camera misinterpret the visual effect you’re trying to achieve.

The Master Your Camera Controls session is always held at the same location as our 2-hour Composition in the Field class, which begins immediately afterward. This makes it easy to enroll in both classes. In Composition in the Field, you can apply your new camera knowledge by taking photos with your instructor’s guidance on specific composition techniques.
